NYX has been on a roll when it comes to their latest releases. I’ve always been a fan of their lip products, especially their Soft Matte Lip Creams, however they just don’t do it for me as a liquid lipstick. Lo and behold, they recently came out with a new line of lip products called “Lip Lingerie” liquid lipsticks, which is essentially a whole line of nude lip products. I’m not huge on nude shades myself, however I couldn’t resist trying out a few shades. If you would like to know my thoughts on the new NYX Lip Lingerie liquid lipsticks, please keep reading.
Overview
I purchased the NYX Lip Lingerie in Exotic and Ruffle Trim from the NYX Canada website for $9 CAD each. I didn’t bother checking the local stores which carry NYX in my area, but I’m sure that these are now widely available in store and online. The packaging is nice and sturdy; it reminds me a bit of the Kylie liquid lipstick packaging (which I previously reviewed). The applicator is a bit different; it’s shaped similarly to a doe-foot applicator, except it’s more narrow. It is also very stiff and does not bend freely. At first I wasn’t really a fan, but it does help when it comes to applying a nice, crisp line around the edge of the lips.

The scent of the product itself is a little off-putting because it smells like sour paint. I was expecting it to smell like their Soft Matte Lip Creams, so you could just imagine my surprise when I got a whiff which assaulted my nostrils.
Application & Wear
Both Ruffle Trim and Exotic applied mostly opaque, yet a bit streaky. It took me a few tries to get the coverage I wanted with both shades. They both dry down matte and are relatively transfer-proof. Unfortunately, after a few hours of wear, both shades felt quite drying on the lips. The product on the inside of my lips started to turn goopy and pale, which wasn’t a good look.
NYX Lip Lingerie in Ruffle Trim
Ruffle Trim is a gorgeous warm deeper nude shade. I haven’t really come across a nude shade like it that works on my skin tone, and I really do like it. It did, however, apply fairly patchy, and it was quite drying on the lips.
NYX Lip Lingerie in Exotic
Exotic is a beautiful rosy-brick shade. It’s definitely one of the more colourful nude shades in the line, but I think it would look like a gorgeous rosy shade on individuals with deeper skin tones. I love wearing this shade when I want a little more colour in the office since it isn’t too bright, but it’s definitely still in the “nude” family for more tan skin. It’s unfortunate how drying it is, otherwise it would’ve been the perfect every day lip colour.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I think the line is generally quite nice. The shade range is amazing since it caters to all sorts of skin tones, however the formula isn’t the greatest. I still think they’re worth a try since some of the shades are pretty unique. In addition, they’re quite affordable, so there really isn’t any harm in trying these out.
