July was a lovely yet scorching month. I had to keep my makeup quite minimal because of the crazy temperatures, but some of the products that I am going to write about in this post were definitely my saving graces. If you would like to learn about some of my July 2016 favourites, please keep reading.
L’Oreal Lumi Cushion in W5.5
I reviewed this foundation in a previous post. Long story short, I did like the finish, however the shade was not quite what I expected it to be. I didn’t think that this would be a foundation I would reach for when it feels like hell outside, but some circumstances have changed. My skin has been extremely dry recently, so I needed something that would give me some hydration. I’ve been using this foundation with a Beauty Blender, applying one very light layer all over my face. The shade doesn’t end up being too orange, and it warms up my face a bit. It’s been a surprising life saver this month!
Skindinavia The Makeup Setting Spray – Oil Control
I’ve been using this on days when I know I’ll need my makeup to last all day and when I’ll be outside for an extended period of time in the heat. This stuff really does keep makeup in place! I will say, however, that this version doesn’t really keep oiliness at bay, so blotting is necessary. It’s not like your face will end up looking like an oil slick – it’s just that it will get a little shiny. Regardless, I’m okay with a little glisten as long as my makeup isn’t melting off my face by the end of the day.
Hourglass Ambient Bronzer – Radiant Bronze
I’ve been rotating bronzers all month long, but there’s just something about this one that keeps making me go back to it. Maybe it’s the fact that it blends in so effortlessly and gives the most lovely touch of warmth to the face. A word of caution: It has a bit of shimmer in it and it is very easy to go heavy handed with this. Using a fan brush or a very loosely-packed brush gives the best results. I wouldn’t recommend this bronzer to anyone lighter than NC40 because it is quite warm and could end up looking too orange, but for tan skin, it looks amazing. It truly makes your skin look radiant! I’m thinking of making a post dedicated to my bronzer collection, would any of you be interesting in that? Let me know in the comments below!
Milani Baked Blush – Rose D’Oro
I bought this blush a while back, and I’m not exactly sure why I’ve been sleeping on it. I tried out Luminoso and Dolce Pink numerous times and loved them, so this shouldn’t have been an exception. Needless to say, I tried it out this month and I fell in love. This shade is so gorgeous and looks beautiful on my skin. It’s described as a “soft rose with a golden glow”, however I think it looks more like a muted coral on me. The “golden glow” is definitely accurate – I’ve been skipping highlighter most days because of this. This blush just freshens up the face and I always look so healthy and glowy when I wear it. It truly does live up to the expectations of what a blush is supposed to do. I can’t recommend it enough for individuals with tan skin.
