I’m happy to say that I’m starting off my first “empties” post of 2017 with a bang. I used up several skincare and makeup items which I’ve been dying to part with for some time now. Unfortunately, using up a good chunk of my skincare products in the dead of winter hasn’t been ideal, but that just gives me an excuse to try some other new and exciting things. If you’d like to learn more about the products I finished this past month, please keep reading!
Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Medium Neutral
I wrote a thorough review on this concealer about a year ago, so I’m not going to go into too much detail about this product here. I do have to confess something – this is the same tube I had when I wrote that last review, and I JUST managed to empty it out now. I ended up really enjoying this concealer, I even bought one to use in the summer! It works really well for dry under eyes and it provides great coverage. I don’t know why it takes me forever to use concealers up, but whenever I do, I always feel so accomplished. On top of that, I can check off a product from my Project Pan!
Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray
This was a travel-sized product I received when I bought the full-size of the oil control Skindinavia spray. I thought this finishing spray was just okay, only because I felt like it didn’t really do much to enhance the longevity of my makeup. The only reason why I was able to use it up this time around was because my skin was too dry for the oil-control version I normally use. I also didn’t like how the spray would emphasize my pores after several hours of wearing makeup. Because of this, I don’t think I will be buying a full-size bottle of this particular spray any time soon.
Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist
I got this deluxe-sized bottle from Sephora last spring. I remember being so excited to try it because that was around the time that this product was popping up all over YouTube. I also liked the fact that I didn’t have to spend the $58 CAD for a full-sized bottle. Unfortunately, I wasn’t really a fan of this product. Firstly, the “mist” did not spray evenly all over the face. It could just be that the spray mechanism on the deluxe-size bottle isn’t very good, but I would always end up with massive droplets of skin mist on my face. The spots also didn’t dry, so it just wiped away whatever makeup I was trying to set. Secondly, this product has an odd scent to it. It didn’t really bother me much, but I wasn’t expecting it to be so medicinal. Thirdly, I didn’t feel like this mist did much for my skin. It made my skin extremely greasy, but that was somewhat expected given that it is supposed to be dewy, however my face never got that shiny even when I doused myself in MAC Fix+. I just don’t think that this spray was really all that it was hyped up to be, and I certainly don’t think it’s worth its price tag.
Korres Wild Rose 24-Hour Moisturizing & Brightening Cream
I’ve written about this moisturizer several times on my blog, so I also won’t go into too much detail here. Bottom line: I love this moisturizer. I’ve been using it for years, and I don’t think I will ever stop repurchasing it.
Korres Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Facial
I am so happy to be finished with this product once and for all. At first, I really enjoyed this moisturizer. I found it to be very soothing when I first tried it many years ago, and I decided to pick it up again thinking that it would be great for my dry and irritated skin. Boy, was I wrong. I don’t know if they reformulated this since I first tried it, but it really did not work well for me this time around. My face would sting every time I applied this on my face at night. It also did this weird slimey pilling thing on my face whenever I used it over my topical medication. It didn’t give me much hydration either, even though the texture was very thick. I was super disappointed that this product fell short.
Bioderma Sensibio Sensitive Skin Cleansing Makeup Removing Water
This product isn’t shown above because it was unfortunately thrown out before I took the picture. It was another 500 mL bottle, and I was so sad to see it go. I have also reviewed this product previously, so I’ll keep this short and sweet. This micellar water was a god-send for my dry winter skin. My face became too irritated if I used my normal cleanser in the morning, so I started using Bioderma. It really is wonderful for those with very sensitive and irritated skin. It’s so gentle and it cleanses very well without being too harsh. I wanted to repurchase it, but the store I went to was all out of the 500 mL bottles. I was disappointed, but I took that as an opportunity to try out the Garnier “dupe” for this micellar water. I’ll write a more thorough review once I get a chance to get a better feel for it, but so far, so good!
