Pan 17 in 2017 | Update #2

We’re about halfway through the year, and unfortunately I have to say that I haven’t really been making great progress this time around. I finished off a couple of items since my last update, however I had to abandon some pans because they just weren’t working out well for me. Keep reading to see my progress for my Pan 17 in 2017 project.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

This one ended up being a total fail. I gave up on this palette about 2 weeks into using it! The shades just don’t work well for my every day look. They’re too cool and there aren’t enough wearable matte shades in the palette. I don’t think I will pursue to pan a palette during this next quarter.

MAC Eyeshadow in “All That Glitters”

I barely touched this product in the last few months. I haven’t really got much of a tan since so I just completely forgot about it. I think this next update is going to be my final round with this, and if I can’t bring myself to use it, I might just give up on this too.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard

I tried so hard to finish this off in the last few months, and I almost succeeded! I got to the point where I was able to remove the stopper in order to get as much product as I could, but I think I’m going to let go of this one now. The product has become so thick and cakey, it’s really hard for me to get a natural look with it lately. The shade is also a bit too light for me now as I’ve got a very slight tan recently, so it just isn’t working for me anymore. It had a good run, and I think I made some very good progress on it. Onto the next one! Right now I’m using the Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer in the shade Medium. I’m loving it so far as it is very lightweight and looks very natural on the skin. I’m hoping to finish it up by the end of the summer.

Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pop Stick Eyeshadow in Three Shakes

Finishing off this shadow turned out to be a lot more difficult than expected. However, I’m not giving up on it because I still really enjoy wearing it on the days that I can. I think I’m going to give myself until the end of the year to try to use it all up.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer

I haven’t been using primer much these days, but I think I’ve done a decent job at using this product up. I actually really enjoy it, and I was thinking of even buying a full size at one point, but I just don’t really have a reason to lately, and I also have a ton of other primers to go through before I even think about getting a new one. There’s a bit left and I think I can easily use it all before my next update. I’m just going to have to keep scraping out the remnants until I get there!

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Stromboli

I think I’ve had my run with this foundation. I came very close to finishing it off, but unfortunately I find that it just hasn’t been sitting well on my face lately. I find it to be a bit cakey at times and the shade is definitely a bit off at this point. I’m thinking maybe now is a good time to reintroduce my Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation into the project, but lately I’ve been so indecisive about my foundation picks. Right now I’m really into my L’Oreal Lumi Cushion Foundation as well as the Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation because they’re both so light coverage. I’ll have to see where my choices lie for the next few months…

MAC Prep + Prime Colour Corrector in Peach Lustre

I’ve 100% given up on this product. I never reach for it nor do I ever feel like I need to use it. I don’t have any other colour correctors to pan so I won’t be replacing this.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Give Me Sun!

This bronzer has been way too warm for me to use the last few months. I’m having a really hard time using it, so I’ve been using some alternatives in my collection such as Benefit Hoola, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil, and even my Wet n’ Wild contour duo in Caramel Toffee. This is another product with a replacement that is currently up in the air.

Kat Von D Shade + Light Palette

This is another product that I had to abandon halfway through this second quarter, mainly because it started to make me break out in the areas that I was applying it to. I was very disappointed but I have since replaced it with the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. I’m hoping to hit pan on this product by the end of this quarter, and I think I’m making pretty decent progress!

NARS Blush in Orgasm

Okay, it’s official: I’m done with this blush. As much as I love it, I just needed to mix it up this time around. I haven’t really chosen a designated blush to replace this product with, but I’m currently loving the MAC Pro Longwear Blush in Eternal Sun. Maybe I’ll see if I can put a dent in it, or maybe even hit pan, by the end of this quarter.

Benefit Watt’s Up! Highlighter

This is also another product that I keep forgetting about, but still really enjoy using. Again, it’s very surprising how long this is taking me to use. Any tips on how to use up cream highlighters? I’d love to get some pointers! In the meantime, I’m not giving up on this thing, and will still continue to use it all up.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita

Lolita was a bust for me. I started getting really bored with the shade, and I found that sometimes it was just a bit too dark for my liking. I’m also not really into wearing liquid lipsticks these days, they just feel too heavy for me. I still wear it from time to time, but I’ve given up on panning this. I’ve really been into cycling through my lip products lately, so I don’t see myself committing to panning a single lip product.

BONUS: MAC Strobe Cream

I actually got through this product during this last quarter! I enjoyed it very much, so much so that I actually bought a full size in the Goldlite version. I probably didn’t need another moisturizer, but my skin was just loving it.

I think it’s safe to say that this round of my Project Pan was a total fail. I gave up on a lot of products, but in a way, I’m not really disappointed in myself. I used some of these products to their fullest extent (well, from my perspective), and it gave me an idea of what I like in my collection and what I don’t. I also like how I can cycle through some of my products and rediscover just how much I like some stuff. It’s hard to do that when you have a larger collection. This past quarter has also showed me just how long it really takes to finish up some products.

I’m hoping to make better progress during the following quarter so I can report back some better results for you guys.

  1. I love that you do project pans. I am sometimes overly ambitious and have to narrow it down as well. I find doing updates helps me stay focused. Keep up the great work. ♥ Elle

  2. This is such a great idea! We all stick to beauty products in our collection that we know work well for us and it’s nice to try to use those products that get a little neglected. Great post!
