I can’t believe it’s already time for my first Project Pan update! I have to say, this experiment has been a little more difficult than I thought it would be, but I think I definitely made some great progress! I finished up/hit pan on many items on my list, so I’d say this first quarter has been quite successful. I’m having a bit of a hard time getting through some products, but I’m just trying to stay optimistic. This post is going to be long enough, so I’ll cut the rambling and just get on with it!

Happy New Year everybody! I hope you all had some wonderful celebrations this past weekend. Just like many other people around the world, I decided that now is a better time than ever to get myself started on something I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time: finish some old products. I got way too caught up in trying out so many different things over the years, which I don’t entirely regret doing, however doing so made me lose sight of what my original wants and needs were when I first decided to build up my collection. I actually want to enjoy the stuff that I have, and in order to do that, I need to make an effort to use them on a regular basis.
So how am I going to do this? Enter: Project Pan. Project Pan is essentially a project to use up products in my makeup collection. The goal of my specific project is to “pan” (i.e. to literally see the bottom of the pan or finish up) 17 products by the end of 2017. It also helps to track progress in order to stay motivated. If a product is finished before the end of the year, it is replaced with another product from my collection which I would like to use up.
Sounds simple enough, right? For me, it will definitely be a challenge because I need variety in my routine, otherwise I’ll go crazy. I’m going to try very hard to use the products I’ve chosen to pan, however if I’m really bored, I’m not going to deny myself of using another product. My makeup, after all, is supposed to make me feel happy. There’s no point in making this a miserable journey – I just want the satisfaction of actually using things up and knowing that I got my money’s worth.
If you’d like to learn more about the 17 products I’ll be panning in 2017, please keep reading.

I felt a jolt of inspiration when I stumbled upon this image of Twiggy, and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try to recreate that mod look from the 60’s. I also thought it was appropriate, being the first day of spring! These looks typically played with lots of pastel tones, so I immediately thought to use the shade ‘Isla’ from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Self Made Palette. However, in hindsight, I wish I would’ve used a matte shade instead. This look definitely took me out of my comfort zone, and it was the first time I actually made a real attempt at a cut crease. I’ll admit, it was a little difficult given my confusing eye shape, but I think it turned out all right! Check out the video if you’re interested in seeing how I achieved the look.

Primers are one of those products that people either love or hate. Some people think it’s an unnecessary step in their routine, however, I believe that depending on what kind of look you’re going for, primers can sometimes make a huge difference. I love my primers and own several different kinds to address all sorts of problems I may have with my skin. If you would like to learn more about primers and whether or not they’ll be beneficial to you, please keep reading.
